NEW SCULPTURE TRAIL
The latest new city project is a Sculpture Trail created by the City Council to take residents and visitors on a walk around the city to see and learn the history of old statues plus the new sculptures created by local artists. RESCUING BLACKFRIARS ROSE GARDENS
Blackfriars Rose Gardens is Hereford’s most historic gardens; set in the grounds of the ruins of the 12th century Blackfriars Monastery . The rose garden was planted in 1964 to mark the century of the Hereford and West of England Rose Society. For decades it was cared for the county council but the upkeep ended with austerity and the gardens were abandoned.
