MORE TREES FOR THE CITY
Central Avenue close to the city centre now has 30 trees planted on the roadside. The
project was a partnership of Hereford in Bloom, City Tree Wardens and Balfour Beatty
during National Tree Week. The area had lost many of its original trees. Tree Warden Mo
Burns said: “Trees are the natural architecture of our urban environment, contribute to
tackling climate change and make the city healthier and more attractive to live in. Hereford
has only 15% tree cover, but national analysis shows for a city its size it should be nearer
30%.” More tree planting is planned.
